Four Memory Exercises to Improve Your Child’s Memory | Best ICSE Schools in Patiala

Having a great memory is important for both kids and grown-ups as it makes learning and memorising things a lot easier. But, just like any other skill, a child is not born with a strong memory. Instead, it can be acquired by different means and practices. So, when it comes to the sharper memory of your child, there are several memory exercises that you should help your child to practice regularly.

Kaintal Senior, one of the best ICSE schools in Patiala, recommends some tips to help your child enrich their experiences and build essential life skills so that they can perform better in their personal and professional life.

Four Memory Exercises that You Can Try with Your Child:

  1. Meditation: Meditation works great for all. Teaching your child to meditate from a very early age is an excellent way to boost their memory. It is an effective way to instil good habits in your child and also keep them calm and focused. Though practising meditation with a younger kid is a challenging task, still you can start with just 2-5 minutes and then increase the timing accordingly.

  2. Exercise: Mental health largely depends upon the well-being of the body. Simply put, being physically fit and active helps the brain to stay sharp and healthy. This is the reason why you should develop the habit of exercising with your child from an earlier age and make it a part of their everyday schedule.

  3. Colours: Using colours while teaching your child is an excellent way to ensure that the information will stay in the brain of your child for a longer time. Tactful use of colours is such an effective element that the brain filters very easily among the billions of pieces of sensory information. So, what you can do is highlight some important passages with different colours or use colourful notes in the textbooks can help your child memorise the specific information without much hassle.

  4. Nutrition: Good diet is essential for the well-functioning of both the body and the brain. Without proper nutrition, it will be hard for your child to achieve good health and memory. Experts always suggest giving a wholesome diet to children. Foods that contain omega-3, antioxidants and flavonoids are highly recommended to include in your child's diet to promote brain health.

Five Tips For How To Discipline Your Child with Love

Discipline is an important and effective tool. There comes a time when every parent faces difficulties in deciding how to discipline their child. Discipline is not the same as harsh punishment. However, you must utilize it in a manner that safeguards your child's dignity.  Discipline is teaching your youngster which behaviors are acceptable and which are not. The discipline focuses on training rather than punishment.

Kaintal School, being one of the best ICSE schools in Patiala, recommends some effective tips for parents to help discipline their children with love.

Tips To Discipline Your Child With Love:
  • Maintain adequate limits: When there are clear guidelines for things like homework and curfews, teens feel more comfortable, but don't make them up on the spot. As your child matures, don't forget to give them more independence and responsibility.
  • Advise them on what to do rather than what not to do: Give your kids advice on what they should have done rather than criticizing what they did wrong. For example, Give your child the appropriate words to use, "I'd like a snack, please," if they are acting out because they are hungry.
  • Make your consequences believable and stick to them: Follow through on your warnings to hold bad behavior accountable so that they are not taken as mere threats. Your children will be able to tell if you don't mean what you say if you don't stick to your words.
  • Never use physical punishment on your child: Physical punishment might make your kids afraid of you and undermine their faith in you. Research indicates that children who have been spanked are more prone to behave violently and aggressively as adults. So, focus on training your child rather than punishing them.
  • Don't scold; praise instead: The majority of the time, try to practice "positive feeling" discipline. To put it simply, your tone of voice, your behavior, and the words you use should all feel positive to your child 80% of the time.

Conclusion:

Kaintal School, the Top ICSE school in Patiala, always tries its best to instill discipline in the students and give them the push they need for their overall development.
